MARCEDA SMITH (nee FIEBELKORN) Marceda Smith (nee Fiebelkorn), aged 74, beloved wife of Ron Smith, and loving mother and grandmother, passed away suddenly in Mesa, Arizona on January 28, 2015. Her memory will never be forgotten and always treasured by her husband of 54 years, her daughters, Lisa (Neil) McTavish, Teresa (Geoff) Borsboom, and her granddaughters, Jinty and Briagha McTavish. Marceda was predeceased by her parents, William and Natalie Fiebelkorn, her sisters, Lilly Borkowsky and Gladys Neurenberg, and her brother, Carl Fiebelkorn. Marceda was born in Brokenhead, MB. She was the youngest of eight children, and was raised on the family farm until her parents retired and moved to Beausejour, MB. After graduating from Beausejour Collegiate, Marceda moved to Winnipeg, MB where she worked at Great West Life Assurance Company. Shortly thereafter, she met Ron Smith whom she married on October 21, 1961. When their first daughter, Lisa, was born, Marceda left her position at GWL to devote her time to her family, and later welcomed their second daughter, Teresa. Many years later, Marceda would return to GWL where she worked in Out of Country Claims until her retirement on January 1, 2005. Marceda was a very vivacious and energetic individual who loved to travel and spend time with her family. Marceda and Ron travelled regularly to Lafayette, IN to visit Lisa and Neil, and their cherished granddaughters, Jinty and Briagha. In addition, Ron and Marceda enjoyed a family Christmas in Hawaii, a trip to France for their 50th wedding anniversary, and their annual winter holidays in Mesa, Arizona. Marceda also loved gardening, interior design, fashion, and books; as she was an avid reader. Memorial Service will be held Monday, April 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church, 1311 Dakota St., Winnipeg, MB. Interment will take place at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church, 1311 Dakota St., Winnipeg, MB R2N 1V8.
